Students Expand Horizons Through Youth Tour Experience
NOVEC sponsored three students for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) Youth Tour, from June 15 to 19. The weeklong program in Washington, D.C., provided participants with a unique opportunity to explore the nation’s capital while learning about the impact of electric cooperatives on communities across the country. Co-op Awards Scholarships to Students
This year, NOVEC increased its high school senior scholarships from $1,500 to $2,000 and awarded 13 scholarships to students across its service territory. Read more here.
Girl Power An Introduction to Energy Careers
Girl Power events are scheduled this year for Thursday, Oct. 29, in Palmyra, Virginia, and Thursday, Nov. 5, in Salisbury, Maryland. The all-day camps are for young women interested in exploring careers in the power industry. Read more here.
Understanding Your Electric Bill
In Northern Virginia, July and August are the hottest and most humid months of the year. Air conditioners often must work overtime to keep homes comfortable and, unfortunately, that can lead to higher electric bills. Read more here.
The Sweet Julia Grace Adult Field Day
Members of NOVEC's Distribution Design department came together in May for an annual adult field day to raise funds for The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation (SJGF). SJGF is dedicated to filling in the gaps, granting wishes, and meeting non-medical needs for children who are seriously ill, have special needs, or are in a medical crisis. Read more here.
