Powering our community
At NOVEC, we remain committed to meeting the needs of our community and we are continuing to provide power to our customers. If outages do occur, our crews are ready to respond.
Keeping our customers and employees safe is our first priority
For the safety and wellbeing of our customers and our employees, NOVEC is following the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) prevention and containment recommendations for coronavirus (COVID-19). As a result, our employees are maintaining six feet of social distancing when interacting with customers and other staff members. We ask that you please do not approach NOVEC employees in the field.
NOVEC urges customers and employees alike to follow all of the CDC prevention and containment recommendations. They include regular and thorough handwashing, keeping your hands away from your face, and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces. We also encourage customers to take advantage of NOVEC's bill payment options that are available online or by phone.
Additionally, if an employee does not feel well, he/she is required to stay home. We've offered teleworking options and implemented staggered work hours when feasible. We’ve also relocated work stations to create additional space between employees. NOVEC has provided sanitizing supplies and strengthened the commercial cleaning procedures at all of our locations.
For additional information about COVID-19 and how to protect yourself, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at www.cdc.gov. Additionally, the Virginia Department of Health has a webpage dedicated to updates on COVID-19 in the Commonwealth at http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/surveillance-and-investigation/novel-coronavirus/.
We are suspending electric service disconnections for customers
We recognize the hardships that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency imposes on our customers. NOVEC is suspending electric service disconnections for nonpayment and penalty fees through October 5, 2020. Please note that this suspension of electric service disconnections delays, but does not cancel, payment of outstanding balances. We encourage all members to pay their bills, on-time, as they are able during this emergency.
Need Emergency Energy Assistance?
Customers seeking emergency energy assistance can find help through several local charitable organizations and county agencies listed on novec.com/assistance. Eligible NOVEC customers may also qualify for assistance through the Virginia Department of Social Services (DSS) website.
Working together to help our less fortunate neighbors
We are encouraging all of our customers to sign up for NOVEC’s Operation Round Up® (ORU) program. Enroll in ORU and NOVEC will "round up" your monthly bills to the next dollar amount. Your contributions will help our less fortunate neighbors during this difficult emergency and throughout the year. ORU funds are distributed to charitable organizations and county aid agencies that provide energy assistance programs to customers in counties we serve.
Please beware of scammers
Beware of scammers attempting to take advantage of customers during this emergency situation. NOVEC will not call, text or email you to demand personal information like your credit card or bank account number, and we will not demand immediate payment with a prepaid debit card or other gift cards.
